James Blunt: Moon Landing Tour

For his latest tour, called “Moon Landing”, James Blunt wanted to give those in his audience a space like feel while attending the show. So he hired the team at Strictly FX of Chicago, to bring in lasers and other visual elements, allowing him to bring his vision to life.

James is known for loving lasers, but the challenge with this show was to balance the lasers with the 9.5 meter F15 LED wall upstage. To accomplish such a feat, Programmer David Kennedy of Strictly FX used the Pangolin BEYOND software, to create a variety of inspiring looks, with unique colors, to really make the lasers shine through. David goes on to say… “The Pangolin Beyond software gives us flexibility… This program keeps us really loose and able to deliver what the client wants all the time. A lot of our acts will change songs or looks at the last second, and the software helps us a lot with that”, says Kennedy.

Moon Landing is the fourth studio album by British singer-songwriter James Blunt. Blunt has sold over 20 million albums and 17 million singles worldwide, with his debut album, Back to Bedlam, being listed as the best selling album of the 2000s in the UK. He has received several awards and nominations, having won two Brit Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, two Ivor Novello Awards as well as receiving five Grammy Award nominations.

Strictly FX provided 2 high power Arctos full color RGBY, as well as 16 small single beam XPod 300mW lasers all controlled using the Pangolin BEYOND software. The Arctos units were located upstage right and left, while the XPod diode units were clustered around James and his piano.
