After the huge success of Illuminate Adelaide's Light Cycles by Moment Factory’s first season back in 2021, the event returned for its second annual season to bring another exquisitely immersive nighttime experience to Adelaide Botanic Garden in Australia.

Light Cycles, created by Moment Factory and presented by Illuminate Adelaide, takes guests on a nearly 2km self-guided digital art trail to revisit the beauty of nature through a beautiful blend of art, music, and technology with nature. The locations and passageways feature an amalgamation of light installations such as fairy lights and video projections, and mellifluous original melodies to further transport audiences through the gardens.

One of the seven cycles featured the installation of Reflection Lake where waves of laser beams crossed the motionless surface to the rhythm of the music that features organic sounds recorded from the lake to help further enhance the lake's natural features.

Laser technology

Novatech Creative Event Technology was enlisted in this season to provide lighting to help further enhance and illuminate the Adelaide experience.  Novatech is a South Australian-based event hire and production company delivering video systems, lighting displays, safe and secure rigging, and sound systems.  Founded in 2001, Novatech has become Adelaide's most trusted event hire and production company focused on delivering the most unforgettable event experiences.

The team at Novatech recently upgraded their lighting fleet by investing in high-powered KVANT laser projectors.  This fleet consisted of 4 BeamBrush 35 laser systems to create the tight, natural look of a laser beam and smoothly transition into the look of a classic moving head.  Within the zone of Reflection Lake, this BeamBrush technology combined with the integrated Pangolin FB4 and Pangolin BEYOND Software allowed the laser operators to increase and decrease the laser divergence in real-time to create soft and sharp graphics on the lake while also allowing for safe audience projection zones.
