From April 11–13, 2026, S2O Songkran Music Festival transformed the new S2O LAND venue into an immersive collision of music, water, light, and technology.
Celebrating its 11th anniversary, S2O welcomed an international lineup that included Steve Aoki and Alan Walker’s debut performance as Lonely Club, Zedd, Kygo, Gryffin, Lost Frequencies, Don Diablo, I Hate Models, Ray Volpe, and more. The purpose-built venue paired a massive stage with cutting-edge production and a 360-degree water system, taking the festival’s signature “World’s Wettest Party” experience to a new level.
At the heart of the visual production were hundreds of laser beams, programmed to work as one system alongside lighting, video, water, special effects, and live performances. Pangolin BEYOND provided the creative and operational platform needed to bring that ambitious laser design to life.
The Team Behind the Scenes
The festival’s laser system was supplied by Media Vision 1994, whose team supported the large-scale projector installation required to deliver hundreds of visible beams across S2O LAND.
Laser programming was led by Chen Hsueh JU of SUN WIN Technology Production Co., Ltd., with Billy, Ray, and Toms serving as laser designers. Billy also handled laser control and live operation, while Avery supported the production as MA3 technician.
The international collaboration brought together specialists from multiple disciplines and countries. For Billy, the production also provided an opportunity to represent Taiwan on one of Asia’s largest festival stages.
The Creative Challenge
For laser designer and operator Billy, S2O Thailand 2026 marked his third consecutive year working on the festival.
Each edition has brought a larger production, more complex programming, and higher expectations. This year, the laser team needed to create a design capable of matching the scale of S2O’s new home while remaining tightly connected to every other visual department.
Hundreds of beams had to feel like part of one coherent production—not a separate layer placed over the stage. Laser cues needed to land alongside musical drops, lighting changes, video transitions, special effects, and artist performances throughout three full days of programming.
Delivering that precision required extensive preparation. The team spent countless hours programming, testing, rehearsing, and fine-tuning the show so that every cue could arrive at exactly the right moment.
Bringing the Design to Life with Pangolin BEYOND
Pangolin BEYOND served as the central laser design, programming, control, and playback platform for the production.
BEYOND gave the team a flexible environment in which to develop the festival’s laser content, organize cues, and operate the system during live performances. Its ability to support professional laser programming and communicate with wider show-control environments made it particularly well suited to a production where lasers had to remain closely synchronized with lighting, video, audio, and effects.
A festival of this scale leaves little room for hesitation once the audience arrives and the performances begin. BEYOND gave the operators the confidence to execute a densely programmed show while still responding to the pace and energy of a live festival.
The result was a laser design that could shift with the music: building anticipation with precisely arranged beam structures, expanding across the venue during major drops, and combining with water and atmospheric effects to fill the air above the audience with color and movement.
“Pangolin BEYOND provides the power and reliability that allow us to turn creative ideas into reality on one of the biggest festival stages in Asia,” said Chen Heuseh JU.
Congratulations to everyone involved in the production!
